Acting Prime Minister and Housing Minister, Reginald Austrie says improving the quality of housing for Silver Lake residents is top on Government’s agenda.
His comments came at the ground breaking ceremony for Phase 3 of the Silver Lake Apartment Complex, Tuesday afternoon.
Government signed a 1.6 million dollar contract with A.K Henderson Construction Limited to construct the apartment building this afternoon.
Austrie is also hoping that the people of Silver Lake will get priority for employment opportunities.
Meantime, Housing Manager, Hillarian Jules says the Phase 3 apartments will help modernize the Silver Lake Community.
Work on Phase 3 is expected to be completed in six and a half months.
Meantime, Minister for Constituency Empowerment, Justina Charles has called on the fire victims to use the setback to rebuild a stronger and better Silver Lake.
