It’s match day for Dominica’s Senior Women’s National Team as the Sisserou Girls face the Reggae Girlz of Jamaica in their opening game of the 2025–2026 CONCACAF Women’s Qualifiers.

Kickoff is at 3:00 p.m. today at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground.

This is Dominica’s first match in this round of qualifiers, the start of a challenging campaign that continues with fixtures against Guyana in February, and Nicaragua and Antigua & Barbuda in April.

Leading the team onto the field today is 17-year-old captain Dymond Daniel, the youngest player ever selected to captain Dominica’s senior women at the international level.

The squad features a dynamic mix of young, homegrown talent and experienced overseas-based players, all determined to put on a strong showing for the Nature Isle.

Head Coach Ronnie Gustave expressed confidence in the group’s mindset heading into the match.

“Well today my theme is faith over fear because I know, seeing that the team, the calibre players we’re gonna be playing against, sometimes might have a Psychological effect on our players knowing that some of the girls today gonna be playing against them, example Shaw, that’s one of the players that we have been seeing in the league dominating for Man City. But nevertheless as I say football is played on the pitch and once we put our all into it, once we in one accord and have the faith that we can do it collectively that we can give a good account of ourselves.”

Physical Trainer Duly Polydore added that part of preparation includes relaxation. “Well muscle activation basically is a process where you relax the muscles you take out the acid inside the muscles and to ensure that the players muscles are very relaxed before the game and it is very important that we do it in a fun way because most of the time football is played in a form of a game and the games consist of rules, so all the activities that we’re doing we have to make sure that we do it in relation with the football and the way it’s supposed to played.”

With a renewed sense of purpose and unity, the Sisserou Girls step into today’s match representing not just a team, but a movement for women’s football in Dominica.

With months of preparation behind them, the Sisserou Girls enter today’s match united, motivated, and eager to represent Dominica with strength and resilience.

The match can be viewed live on ESPN2/Disney+.

Fans at home and in the diaspora are encouraged to rally behind the team, send messages of support, and follow along as the nation’s women step into this exciting new stage of competition.
