South Africa handed India their heaviest defeat in Test cricket on Wednesday, completing a dominant 408-run victory in the second Test and sealing a 2–0 series whitewash, only the third time India have ever been whitewashed at home.

Chasing an improbable 549 for victory, India were bundled out for 140, with only Ravindra Jadeja offering resistance through a gritty 54. The rest of the batting lineup crumbled under relentless pressure from the South African bowlers.

Off-spinner Simon Harmer was the star of the day, delivering a remarkable spell of 6 for 37 to dismantle India’s second innings and secure the emphatic win. His performance throughout the series earned him the Player of the Series award.

South Africa had earlier posted 489 in their first innings and declared their second innings at 260 for 5, setting India a target that proved far beyond reach. India were dismissed for 201 in their first innings.

Final Scores:

  • South Africa: 489 & 260/5 declared
  • India: 201 & 140
  • Result: South Africa won by 408 runs
