Statement by PM Skerrit Following Passage of Hurricane Irma

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has just issued a statement from Roseau, Dominica following the passage of Hurricane Irma. At the moment, schools in Dominica are closed, the Douglas-Charles Airport is closed, but workers are back to work.

The Prime Minister says that while Dominicans should be thankful for being spared the ravages of Hurricane Irma, thoughts and prayers should now be focused on the islands badly affected further North.

He also revealed that so far he has been unsuccessful in making contact with Dominicans in St. Maarten but says Dominica will stand ready to provide support to its friends up north.
