General Secretary of the Public Service Union, Thomas Letang said the decision to create 223 new positions for secondary school teachers is commendable.

The new positions which come into effect in September include 15 deputy principals, 87 heads of department, 7O senior qualified teachers, and 16 school counselors.

“I believe is a good thing that is different to the classification that is taking place.”

He said what we are seeing now is some new positions being created for secondary school teachers.

He added, some teachers are expressing concern about what is happening at the primary level.

He said, however, he thinks this is something that will involve further discussion with the relevant authorities.
