General Secretary of the Public Service Union, Thomas Letang has hailed the Government’s decision to establish a new fund for public officers.
The fund will assist public officers who are affected by natural disasters.
The commitment was made in the 2O21-2O22 national budget.
Letang said, during negotiations, the Public Service Union brought to the table the establishment of a special fund that will assist public officers if they experience a disaster or damage to their properties.
“We were promised that it will be reflected in the budget, I must say that we are happy. So no longer we will see public officers coming up to seek assistance.”
He further stated that he welcomes the decision taken by the government to remove certain taxes on properties which were announced in the 2021- 2022 national budget.
