
Olympic Gold Medalist, Thea Lafond-Gadson has been named the Dominica Athletics Association’s most outstanding Senior Female International Athlete for 2024/2025.
The Olympic Gold Medalist and World Champion was bestowed the honor during last weekend’s Dominica Athletics awards.
Olympic and National Record holder in the 400M hurdles and 800M event, Dennick Luke was named the most outstanding Senior Male International Athlete.

Meanwhile, the Pioneers Athletics Club sprinter, Shakan Stedman was named the most outstanding Senior Male Local Athlete with Jemelie Lawrence of the Striderz Athletic Club being named the most outstanding Senior Female Local Athlete.
Over 50 awards were presented to deserving athletes, officials, clubs, and sponsors. The Official of the year went to Felicien Antoine; Sponsor of the Year, the Dominica Olympic Committee while Phillip White received a Lifetime Achievement Award. Nabi Wallace was named Coach of the Year and his Club, Aspirers, named the Club of the Year.
The Aspirers Club also dominated a number of the individual awards. The Aspirers Club President, Nabi Wallace say this is a proud moment for the Aspirers.
Meantime, President of the Dominica Athletic Association, Brendan Williams says it will take a team effort to continue to build athletics in Dominica. He told the awards ceremony that all hands must be prepared to do what it takes.
Featured Speaker at the Awards Ceremony was Dominica Olympic Committee President, Billy Doctrove. He encouraged the athletes to always have a plan B. He says they should put things in place to ensure there is life after athletics.
