Dominica Men’s Under-20 Football Head Coach, Delroy Watt says while the Dominica team did not get the perfect start in the CONCACAF U20 Qualifiers, all is not lost.
Dominica’s hopes of qualifying for the next round suffered a setback as the team were held to a draw in their opening match in group C against the British Virgin Islands on Monday in Costa Rica.
Dominica got the dream start as they scored after just 45 seconds into the match benefitting from an own goal.
The BVI drew level in the 10th minute, but Nicolas Harve restored Dominica’s advantage some minutes later.
The Dominican team had a lapse in concentration at the stroke of half time and the BVI equalized to send the game 2-2 into the break.
The deadlock remained until the 91st minute and Dominica had a chance to steal the 3 points in injury time, but Nicolas Harve had his penalty kick saved by the BVI goal keeper.
The match ended 2-2.
