WAWU Works Towards 10% Wage Cut Reimbursement for Marpin 2K4 Employees

The Union representing employees at Marpin 2k4, the Water Front and Allied Workers Union says it will be seeking the reimbursement of a 10 percent wage cut for the employees.

The 10 percent salary cut was implemented a few years ago as Marpin attempted to pull its self out of financial crisis.

Marpin 2k4 is currently for sale, and the majority share holders the Dominica Social Security (DSS) has already indicated that finalization of the sale is imminent.

WAWU General Secretary, Kertiste Augustus says the issue of the 10 percent wage cut is a matter which must be addressed.

The 10% salary cut, restructuring within the company and contributions by staff to the insurance plan, were among a number of cost cutting measures put in place by Marpin.
