The West Indies power hitters hit some fireworks at the back end of the innings but the team came up just short as they went down to New Zealand in the 2nd T20 International on Thursday morning.

Rovman Powell almost pulled off the amazing comeback but New Zealand held their nerve to level the series at a game a piece (1-1) as they put an end to the West Indies five-match winning streak.

The Kiwi’s (New Zealand) batted first and posted 207-5 in their 20 overs. Mark Chapman hit 78 of just 28 balls with 6 fours and 7 sixes and Tim Robinson got 39.

Roston Chase was the pick of the bowlers for West Indies getting 2 for 33 and Matthew Forde 1-17.

The Windies chasing 208 didn’t get solid partnerships at the top and were struggling at 93-6 after 13 overs.

But Rovman Powell and company took center stage.

They brought to equation down to 7 runs off 3 balls but the windies came up short in the end.

Powell hit 45 from 15 balls, Matthew Forde 29 from 13 balls, Romario Shepherd 34 of 16 and Alick Athanaze 33 but the west indies made 204-8 in 20 overs to lose by 3 runs.

Ish Sodhi took 3-39 and Mitchell Santner 3-31.

West indies captain is Shai Hope.

The 3rd t20 takes place Saturday night Caribbean time.
