A 28-year-old Cockrane man received a suspended jail sentence and was ordered to pay compensation for causing the death of a 10-year-old in Bath Estate.

A 28-year-old Cockrane man, Geovani Vaughn Benoit Garraway, has been ordered to pay compensation in the sum of 2O, OOO dollars and given a suspended jail sentence,  for causing the death of 1O-year-old Natalia Mathew through dangerous driving.

On June 6, 2O18, Garraway was driving a Mazda pickup, and while overtaking another vehicle, he struck the child on the Bath Estate road.

He pleaded guilty to the charge during day three of the trial at the High Court.
