A former Dominica police officer has been appointed Antigua and Barbuda’s new Director of Public Prosecutions

Former Dominica police officer Clement Joseph has been appointed Antigua and Barbuda’s new Director of Public Prosecutions.

He will assume duties on Monday 19 May.

Joseph, who is from Marigot, brings regional experience to the post, having most recently served as DPP in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

He previously worked in Dominica’s prosecution service and was appointed acting DPP there in 2017.

His appointment follows the resignation of Anthony Armstrong, who stepped down amid misconduct allegations in Jamaica.

Shannon Jones-Gittens had been acting DPP since Armstrong’s departure.
