
Dominica’s new magistrate is former State Attorney Marie Louise Pierre-Louis of Layou.
She took the oath at the office of the President of Dominica on October 2 and started sitting on the bench on October 3.
She holds a Master’s Degree in legislative drafting and statutory interpretation with distinction.
The new magistrate was previously attached to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions from 2021 as state attorney where she successfully prosecuted several matters at the Magistrate’s Court, High Court and Court of Appeal.
She is President of the West-Coast Cooperative Credit Union and is currently studying for a Masters in international relations.
