Dominica U-19 Cricket Team Retains Winlott Windward U-19 Title With 22-run Win Over SVG

The Dominica Under-19 National Cricket Team have successfully defended their title on home soil.

Dominica U-19 defeated St. Vincent and the Grenadines by 22 runs in their final match on Saturday at the Benjamin Park.

Dominica U-19 batted first and posted 143 in 33.4 overs. Earsinho Fontaine scored 35 from 50 balls and Aiden Burton 25 from 43 with De Andre Dougan taking 3-21 from 4.4 overs and Elran Glasgow 2-19 from 5 overs bowling for SVG.

Needing 144 to win, the Dominican bowlers stuck to their plan and bundled St. Vincent and the Grenadines for 121 in 33 overs. Earsinho Fontaine led with the ball, he had figures of 4-40 in 10 overs and Kenneth Burton 2-12 in 5 overs. Alston Bobb Jr. struck a fine half-century (57) for his side and Kazado Henry contributed 15.

Dominica won by 22 runs to retain their title.

Head Coach of the Dominica Under-19 Team, Fernix Thomas says it was good tournament and Dominica played good cricket. He was elated that the team were able to prove the doubters wrong.

Dominica finished at the top of the points standings on 9 points and St. Lucia second on 8 points. St. Vincent and the Grenadines finished 3rd and Grenada 4th.
