Dominica will this year join in the observance of World Heart Day on Sunday, September 29, 2024.
A Heart Hike is being organized by Dominican cardiologist Dr. Rachel Andrew to commemorate the day.
Dr. Andrew made history in 2021 when she along with Dr. Dexi Wu from the Chinese Medical Team successfully implanted the first temporary pacemaker in Dominica to resuscitate the life of a critically ill patient.
Dr. Andrew says the Hike is one step towards raising more awareness of heart conditions on the island.
