Dominica’s Olympic gold medalist Thea Lafond Gadson is to receive the country’s highest national award, the Dominica award of Honor.

She has also been granted $400,000 dollars, a portion of land in Warner and a diplomatic passport, among a package announced by Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit at Windsor Park during a concert held in her honor.

A massive motorcade was held on Sunday from Portsmouth to Roseau in honor of Thea Lafond Gadson who won the Olympic gold medal in triple jump at the Paris Olympic Games.

Mr. Skerrit added that plans for a new synthetic track for Dominica will go ahead and upon completion will be called the Thea Lafond Gadson track and field complex.

The Prime Minister also announced that Dominica’s other athletes at the Paris Olympic Games will be granted 20,000 dollars each.
