Dominica’s Prime Minister calls on OECS Health Ministers to put CNCDs on their agenda.

Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has called on the Health Ministers of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) to prioritize Chronic noncommunicable diseases (CNCDs).

Mr. Skerrit told the official opening of the 1Oth OECS Council of Ministers of Health, and 37th Pooled Procurement  Services board meeting at Portsmouth last night,  that a return to the system of primary health care is the way to go.

Mr. Skerrit told the OECS health ministers and practitioners that CNCDs must be considered an urgent health matter.  He says nationals need to take care of themselves.

The incoming chairman of the OECS Council of Ministers of Health,  Dominica’s Health Minister Cassani Laville said the Pooled Procurement of medicines that exists in the OECS had served the sub-grouping.

The regional health meetings opened at the Continental Cabrits Resorts and Spa this morning and will end on Thursday 10th October 2024.
