Dr. Darroux Pichlien Sports Club Falcons captain Kijuan Thomas has been appointed captain of Dominica’s senior men’s national basketball team ahead of the FIBA AmeriCup 2029 Caribbean Pre-Qualifiers.

The tournament will be held in Guyana from July 8 and will feature teams from across the Caribbean, including Bermuda, Haiti, Grenada, Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda, Turks and Caicos Islands, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the Cayman Islands, and host nation Guyana.

The Dominica Amateur Basketball Association (DABA) technical staff has named a 12-man squad for the competition.

The squad includes Kijuan Thomas, Ramal Carbon, Yawani Regis, and Karim Daniel from the Dr. Darroux Pichlien Sports Club Falcons.

Representing the 767 Sports Club Dominators are Jacob Barry, Andell Olivacce, and Shamar Felicite, while Jaiden Scotland (BAA Sharks), Ethan Boland (Marigot Sunrise), Nathan Sebastien (Police Sports Club), and Maxwell Birmingham and Zack Bastien (D-Tread Blazers) complete the squad.

Daniel Ormond, Rene Williams, and Jimmol Peltier have been named as reserve players.

The national team will be led by head coach Donnie Robinson, with Abdul Sanderson and Yanic Regis serving as assistant coaches. Curlyn Luke has been appointed team manager.

Meanwhile, Robinson expressed confidence in the squad, saying the team possesses a strong blend of talent as it prepares for Dominica’s first appearance in the FIBA AmeriCup 2029 Caribbean Pre-Qualifiers.
