West Indies Under-19 player Earsinho Fontaine delivered a devastating bowling performance to lead Dominica State College to a commanding victory over Pierre Charles Secondary School in the Sports Division Schools Under-20 Cricket Competition at the Botanic Gardens on Tuesday.
Batting first, PCSS were dismissed for just 49 runs, with Trevaughn Henry top-scoring with 19. Fontaine was the chief destroyer with 5-16, while Jared Smith claimed 2-4 and K’Omah Telemacque supported with 2-13.
In reply, Dominica State College were bowled out for 73. Nigel George led the scoring with 16. For PCSS, Serani Stevens produced an impressive 5-22, and Joseph Stewart chipped in with 3-25.
Forced to bat again, PCSS struggled even more, managing only 18 runs in their second innings. Kernel Prince took 4-6, Telemacque grabbed 3-5, and Fontaine capped off a remarkable outing with 3-7, finishing with eight wickets in the match.
Dominica State College sealed victory by an innings and six runs.
Meanwhile, at Benjamin’s Park, Kelan Christmas produced a strong all-round performance to guide North East Comprehensive School (NECS) to an innings and 17-run win over Portsmouth Secondary School (PSS).
PSS were bowled out for 36 in their first innings, with Derwin Lewis scoring 24. Christmas returned figures of 5-16, while Nian Davis took 4-15.
NECS responded with 94 all out, led by Christmas with 27 and Donté Benjamin with 21. Lewis was the standout bowler for PSS, finishing with 5-48.
Batting a second time, PSS were again dismissed cheaply for 41. Davis produced outstanding figures of 7-15, while Christmas took 3-21 to complete the dominant performance.
NECS secured victory by an innings and 17 runs.
