The company behind the Cable Car project is disputing recent rumors regarding the Government of Dominica’s involvement in the Project

The company which is behind the development of the Cable Car project in the Roseau Valley is disputing what it says is recent rumors regarding the Government of Dominica’s involvement in the Cable Car Project.

In a statement the Company, Outdoor Engineers based out of Switzerland, says it has been made aware of a false and misleading statement claiming that the Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit of Dominica instructed the contractors to reduce the wage structure for workers on the Cable Car project.

It states that the Company wishes to categorically deny this allegation and that a decision to adjust the wage structure was made solely by the contracting company.

The statement adds that one key reason is the imparity to other developer’s wage scales, where the wage rates were higher than theirs, which could lead to dissatisfaction among their workers.

It continues that to maintain industry harmony and fairness, the Company opted to adjust wages for all new hires in response to these potential concerns.

The statement from the Company adds that individuals are employed based on their work ethic, experience, and qualifications, and not on their political beliefs or affiliations.

It says the hiring process is transparent and centered on the skills and contributions each person can bring to the project.

The Company continues that since making this decision it has hired more new workers at the new wage rates and continue to employ all who have been working previously at the original wage rates.

It further states that transportation to and from the project sites is provided by Cable Car Dominica at no charge to the employees, and that at no point did the Prime Minister of Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit or any representative of the Dominican government intervene or provide instructions regarding the wages of workers on this project.

The statement says the Company is urging the public to disregard the false information being spread and to trust in the viability of the project.
