The Government of Dominica to Introduce Three Electoral Bills when Parliament Convenes on Monday

Electoral reform for Dominica is one step closer to becoming a reality, as three bills will be introduced to Parliament on Monday. 

The Government of Dominica introduces the House of Assembly elections bill, the Registration of Electors bill, and the Electoral Commission bill for the first reading only.  Attorney General Levi Peter says several bills will be taken to Parliament on Monday.

Meantime, A Voter ID card is among the new features for electoral reform in Dominica

Finance Minister Dr. Irving Mcintrye will seek approval for supplementary estimates of 103.6 million dollars for the financial year ending June 30, 2024

Health Minister Cassani Laville will introduce a bill for an act to establish a pharmacy council to regulate pharmacists and pharmacies and regulate the supply of drugs to the public.

A bill for an act to establish the medical laboratories council to provide the licensing, monitoring, and inspection of the operations of a medical laboratory will be introduced to parliament.

The government will seek parliamentary approval for a bank guarantee to secure the commitments made in the Air service agreement between Discover Dominica Authority and United Airlines INC. It will also authorize an additional credit facility from the International Development Association to fund the completion of the East Coast Road from Bois Diable to Hatton Garden via Castle Bruce and the Kalinago Territory.

Other matters on the order paper include the Money Laundering Prevention Amendment Act, proceeds of Crime Amendment Bill, INVESTMENT FUNDS bill, Dominica Hospital Authority Amendment Bill,  Eastern Caribbean Securities  Regulatory Commission Agreement, and Securities Bill 2O24.
