The Ministry of National Security has described the late Evelina Baptiste as a true daughter of the soil.
The former Director of Public Prosecutions passed at the Dominica/China Friendship Hospital on Friday with heart-related problems.
The Minister said she served the country in many capacities over the years including Deputy Registrar, Registrar of the Supreme Court, and Chief Magistrate where she made several lasting and beneficial administrative changes.
The Ministry added that Miss Baptiste was the first female Director of Public Prosecutions of Dominica, a position she held until her retirement in 2O21.
The statement added that she remained on good terms with the Ministry and staff even after her retirement.
The statement said the formidable Miss Baptiste is the beloved sister of His Lordship, Justice Davidson Baptiste, and the aunt of Honorable Chekira Lochart Hypolete to whom they extend deepest condolences
