Three Dominican nationals have been awarded the prestigious Chevening Scholarship for 2024.
Over the years, a number of Caribbean nationals seeking to pursue a Master’s degree in a university in the United Kingdom have been awarded Chevening Scholarships, with full financial funding.
The three Dominicans who have been selected are Kerahia Jno Baptiste, Kieron Williams and Melissa Morgan.
Kerahia Jno Baptiste, who served as Dominica’s 2014-2017 female CARICOM Youth Ambassador, will pursue an MSc in Economics at the University of Manchester.
She has ambitions of becoming an economist specializing in policy development.
Meantime, Kieron Williams aims to spearhead a media and communications revolution in the Caribbean that shines an international spotlight on the challenges faced by Small Island Developing States grappling with the realities of climate change.
He will pursue an MA in Broadcast Journalism at the University of Sheffield.
Melissa Morgan, a Gender and Development Specialist with over a decade of experience will pursue an MSc in Social and Cultural psychology at the London School of Economics.
Morgan believes her academic journey will equip her to bridge the gap between public policy challenges and the need for tailored interventions, ultimately enabling her to design comprehensive and sustainable programs that address economic and social inequalities at their core.
