Young People to Take the Lead on Climate Action at the First Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) in Dominica.

Dominica to host Inaugural Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) on Climate Change

The Caribbean Youth Environment Network (CYEN) –Dominica has announced the inaugural Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) on Climate Change, a youth-led platform empowering young people to take an active role in shaping climate solutions.

The LCOY will take place on Friday, August 29th, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This conference is structured to produce a National Youth Statement(NYS), which will contribute to the Global Conference of Youth (COY) and ultimately inform deliberations at the Conference of the Parties (COP).

Proceedings begin with an Opening Ceremony from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by interactive simulations, panel discussions, and workshops.

 CYEN is proud to announce that the Partnership Initiative for Sustainable Land Management

(PISLM) is the Title Sponsor of LCOY Dominica 2025.

PISLM will not only provide critical support to the conference but will also lead a featured workshop on Sustainable Land Management in Agriculture and Watershed Management.

The Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) is a youth-led event recognized under the framework of YOUNGO, the official children and youth constituency of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

LCOYs are hosted in more than 100 countries worldwide and serve as national platforms where young people gather to build capacity in climate action and advocacy.
