Dominica captures gold at the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association Under 21 Beach Volleyball Championships

Dominica is celebrating gold once again, with the National Under 21 Men’s Beach Volleyball team capturing the gold medal at the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association Under 21 Beach Volleyball Championships in St Kitts on Sunday.

The men’s team of Mervin Mingo and Bill Frederick won gold beating St Kitts in the finals 21-19, and 21-18.

The run capped off an amazing tournament for the Dominica team as they went unbeaten in the tournament and didn’t drop a single set in the process.

With the win Dominica has also qualified for the World Championships next year.

The team also dedicated the title to the late Manika Charles Warrington.

She was a beach volleyball player and mentor to the players, and died suddenly 2 days before the start of the tournament.

Meantime the ladies team of Nyla Edmund and Alyssa Bully had to settle for 5th place in the women’s division.

Dominica were the defending ladies’ champions.
