Kohath Baron Reflects on OECS Challenge, Calls for Greater Cycling Development

National Cyclist, Kohath Baron

National Cyclist, Kohath Baron says the small size of Dominica’s cycling team, made it difficult for him secure the top spot at last weekend’s OECS championships in Antigua.

The OECS championships provided the opportunity for the best cyclists in the region to compete in a tough course that covers 59 miles.

Kohath Baron and Essiel Green formed the main body of the Dominican representation in the Elite category while Ronald Charles, Desmond Prosper, and Levi Baron were participants in the Masters categories. Kohath Baron finished in 4th place overall.

According to Kohath Baron, with a few more elite cyclists in the Dominica cycling team, the result would have been much better.

Baron admits that cycling is a team sport, and he will require more assistance.

He says while Essiel Green gave a good account of himself at his first major regional event, there is need for other young cyclists to get onboard.
