Minister of State in the Ministry of Sport, Oscar George, says the lighting upgrade project at Windsor Park Sports Stadium is now in its final stages, with testing currently underway to ensure the facility meets international standards.
Speaking while at the stadium on Thursday night, George said he is pleased with the progress made so far and expects the remaining works to be completed within the next few weeks.
He explained that technicians are currently carrying out the aiming and testing of the lights to ensure every section of the playing surface receives adequate coverage in keeping with ICC requirements for cricket.
George said the upgraded lighting system will be a major boost for sports in Dominica, benefiting cricket, football and other sporting disciplines, while also enhancing the venue for national and cultural events.
Meanwhile, Project Manager for the lighting upgrade, Mayank Walia, says the installation process has been progressing smoothly.
