The Dominica Men’s National Basketball team ended its campaign at the FIBA AmeriCup Caribbean Qualifiers on a high, recording the country’s first-ever victory at a FIBA international tournament with a 72-63 win over Bermuda on Sunday night in Guyana.
After opening the tournament with three consecutive defeats to Guyana, Antigua and Barbuda, and the Turks and Caicos Islands, Dominica produced a determined all-round performance to finish its campaign on a winning note.
Karim Daniel led the way with 13 points while grabbing 11 rebounds and blocking three shots. Kijaun Thomas added 12 points, while Ethan Boland and Yawani Regis each contributed 11 points in the balanced offensive effort.
The victory saw Dominica finish fourth in the tournament standings and marked a significant milestone for the country’s basketball programme.
